Doug Bainton is a crisis response and incident management expert with over 20 years of experience leading interagency operations, large-scale disaster response, and emergency strategy development. Through Ironclad Ops, he delivers tailored solutions that help organizations navigate complex challenges, ensuring people and resources are protected when it matters most.
Doug’s career spans leadership roles in both public safety and emergency management, including serving as a firefighter with the FDNY, President of the FDNY Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), and Lead Interagency Coordinator for Manhattan at NYC Emergency Management (NYCEM). His work has shaped disaster response at local, state, and national levels, including leading operations for Hurricanes Katrina, Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
A strong advocate for innovation in crisis response, Doug co-founded the NYC Interagency Drone Task Force, pioneering the use of UAS technology for infrastructure assessments and emergency management. As an FAA Part 107 drone pilot, he has leveraged aerial situational awareness to improve response efforts across natural disasters, public health crises, and large-scale incidents.
Beyond response operations, Doug has directed major public safety initiatives, including NYC’s COVID-19 Mobile Testing and Hospital Overflow Programs and the "Get Alarmed NYC" campaign, which installed 192,000+ smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, making communities safer.
Doug holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and remains dedicated to helping organizations build resilience, improve operational efficiency, and respond effectively to crisis situations.
