Doug Bainton is a crisis response and incident management leader with more than 20 years of frontline and interagency leadership experience.
He has served as a Firefighter with the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY), President of the FDNY Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), and Lead Interagency Coordinator for Manhattan at New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM).
Doug has led interagency operations for Hurricanes Katrina, Harvey, Irma, and Maria, overseen task forces during New York City’s COVID-19 Mobile Testing and Hotel Programs, created to manage hospital overflow, and directed the nation’s largest home fire safety initiative, distributing nearly 200,000 free smoke alarms that helped drive NYC fire deaths to historic lows.
He has also supported wildfire recovery and critical infrastructure response efforts across California, helping strengthen operational readiness and emergency coordination.
A proven innovator, Doug co-founded the NYC Interagency Drone Task Force, pioneering the use of drones for disaster response and infrastructure inspections.
His initiatives have improved decision-making, accelerated recovery, and safeguarded communities during some of the nation’s most complex crises.
Through Ironclad Ops, he now helps public and private sector organizations strengthen resilience, streamline operations, and protect people and assets when it matters most.
